So what really is the MOCA controller? The DVR or the gateway? Telephone support is useless in this, they have no idea what I am talking about. But if not, I think I may need to add a MOCA bridge so I can keep the gateway in bridge mode and not jeopardize the existing network. So my specific question is, will the mini X1 boxes still be able to connect to the DVRs over the coax if I leave this in bridge mode? Some answers imply that the DVR makes it's own MOCA, and it's independent of the gateway. I cannot take the gateway out of bridge mode, it breaks the network, and I must have that router in place for VPN access.
